Weeks 1-6 his slow moving, deep exploratory 6 week course will provide you, the student with the basics of how a Vinyasa Flow practice works. Vinyasa is a method of practicing asana (physical poses), in a sequence, flowing one to the next with the breathe. Using the Pilates method we will strengthen and tone the deep core muscles and abdominals, along with other moves that require core awareness, The Pilates system was  developed during the first half of the 20th century which were intended to tone and strengthen your core muscles, working predominantly on your pelvis and abdomen which help to support the spine. By adding a Core element to your Vinyasa Flow class you will see the benefits and how this compliments your Yoga practice, particularly when working on balance postures.

The course will include the following and more:

For our Yoga element we will learn Sun salutations to stretch the biggest muscle groups of the body and get your circulation going to clear out the places where you feel stuck. Standing poses to build stability and strength, lengthening hamstrings and thigh muscles often tight from sitting, standing or walking on pavement. Hip openers will help you to improve digestion, alleviate back pain and feel calmer – Shoulder and chest openers to free you upper back, and loosen tension in your neck. Twists to help you clear tightness in your belly, breathe easier and naturally “detoxify’ your body. Simple breathing techniques to calm your mind and improve circulation, digestion and sleep.

For our Pilates element we will learn about the difference between neutral spine and imprinted spine. Lateral thoracic breathing and how it's different from yoga breathing. Core muscles and global muscles, and how we activate them. Learn traditional Pilates moves such as The Hundreds, Single Leg Stretch, Scissors and many more variations plus new ages moves.

This course is perfect for students new to Yoga and Core Flow or for those students wishing to revisit the fundamentals. On completion of the course you will have the experience to attend open level Vinyasa Flow and Core Flow classes.
